Deadline: October 14th, 2018
“To make people free is the aim of art, therefore art for me is the science of freedom.” -Joseph Beuys
Ghostwolf Gallery invites local artists to submit artwork for an exhibition entitled REPRESENT! in celebration of the midterm elections.
There has always been a strong relationship between the arts and politics. Though many of us do not necessarily market political art, nearly all of us have created it or have issues that are at the root of our creative process. The purpose of this exhibition is not to highlight any particular issue or perspective, but to be a means for our local artists to share what may be their more controversial or challenging work. We seek to represent a full spectrum of ideas and encourage artists from all walks of life and political orientations to submit.
What are you passionate about? Submitted work needn’t be immediately understood as political or it may be overtly so. If you are passionate about wildlife and public spaces, your landscapes are just as relevant as another artist’s statements on second amendment rights.
